BFPE

The Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence is much more than just a project for those of us who created it and built it together with a growing number of collaborators--both lecturers and participants. This is our way of fighting for the future, our pledge to succeed in creating a society that can learn from others and be ready to one day be an example to others.
Sonja Licht, president

The Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE) is part of a Network of Schools of Political Studies in South East Europe, which operate under the auspices of the Council of Europe. BFPE was founded in November 2003 as a non-governmental, non party and non profit organization. The founder and president of BFPE is Ms. Sonja Licht.

BFPE’s primary goal is to contribute to the formation and development of both a democratically- oriented political elite (in parliament, political parties, and in institutions on the national, regional and local levels) and to this same development of leaders in other society sectors (state administration, non-governmental organizations, media, culture, law, unions, and the wok place).

BFPE’s main role is to enable the socio/political elite to obtain the additional knowledge and mandatory skills necessary for both a democratic transformation of society and for participation in European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Primary focus is placed on the process of European integration. Special attention is paid to the further development of cooperation in the SEE region in an effort to strengthen regional stability, security and democratic potential.
