The founding principles of the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE) are based on two assumptions: a society in transition coupled with the additional difficulty of the country’s many years of isolation, and the integration of Serbia in the EU as the most important long-term goal. Both facts necessitate the creation of a well-educated political elite. The degree to which our society will advance and meet the set requirements depends primarily on continuing to improving the elite. Bearing in mind these facts, BFPE’s program contents focus on:
● sharing new knowledge with all public sector activists, especially politicians
● developing the capacities of politicians by placing specific political decisions in the wider context of society
● continuing the emphasis on the roles and responsibilities of politicians and other individuals active in the public sector
The contents of the programs are implemented through seminars, conferences, debates, round tables, tribunes and other educational methods. The main programs, i.e. the Annual Seminar, the Education of Young Political Leaders (OMLIS), and the Education of Female Politicians require several years for completion. At the same time, other forms of education are also organized on a need basis.
